Reents Technologies GmbH specializes in the restoration and adaptation of components that are no longer conventionally available. Our latest project, the restoration of a defective cover for an older navigation system, demonstrates our expertise in 3D printing and CAD design. This use case illustrates how we meet the requirements of our customers with tailor-made solutions and fast implementation.

Challenge:

A sailing club was faced with the problem that spare parts were no longer available for its aging navigation system (which had been used by several colleagues from the club). The cover of the device had suffered considerable damage over the years due to UV radiation and various weather conditions and had cracked several times. Repairs are no longer possible and spare parts are no longer available.

Approach:

Reents Technologies GmbH took on this challenge. By using state-of-the-art CAD software, it was possible to create a precise model of the defective cover. Particular attention has been paid to environmental resistance to ensure long-lasting use.

Design Process:

Within just a few minutes, our CAD specialists were able to design a detailed and optimized version of the cover. Thanks to the close cooperation with the customer, individual adjustments could be made and all requirements could be implemented precisely.

Material selection and production:

ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylic ester), known for its UV resistance and resistance to weathering, was chosen for the material. With this high-performance plastic, the new cover was produced in the company’s own 3D printer. The production took another working day, so that the project could be successfully completed after a total of two working days.

Result:

The end result is a custom-made, weather-resistant and aesthetically pleasing cover that not only restores the functionality of the customer’s navigation system, but also visually enhances it.
